Let's Talk about Bums!

Yes.... lets talk about bums. There are big ones and small ones. Round ones and flat ones. They are all special to the person they are attached to. And since, we all have them. It seemed like no surprise to come to a point when we have to talk about..... YOUR BUM!

CrowdTap and Cottonelle gave me a chance to try the wipes, and let you know how this whole thing work. Being someone who has always been shy talking about bathroom visits, I was surprised how excited I was when given the chance to try disposable moist wipes. There wasn't a disappointment once I got them.

The dispenser for the wipes is extremely stylish and sturdy. Making this a great item with any style of bathroom that is able to be used over and over. The clothes aren't overly fragrancy and just enough moist to remove anything to toilet paper didn't grab.

Give it a try! You won't regret it. It is like having a dubai in a box.

Go-go Awesomesauce

On the go, want something sweet, and healthy? This is a dilemma that my daughter and I are always facing with the go to answer being candy bars and soda. Yep, not so healthy. And since I believe we have all been in the same position, I wanted to make sure you know about this fun way of getting at least one of your daily fruits.

GoGo Squeez have nothing artificial, allergy friendly and no messy extra. Each serving is 60 calories,  zero sodium and fat, and only 12 grams of sugar. And since it comes in it's own togo pouch, it is available in a pinch.

I know this seems like a treat just for kids, but my teenager just can't get enough. So next time you visit the store, grab a box and see how easy being healthy is. I know my house is happy Smiley360 gave us a chance to try it.

Kashi's Hummus Chips?

Hummus Chips? Who doesn't love hummus? And who doesn't love the treat of chips? But wait... both of them in the same thing? Yes, the crafty people of Kashi have a new chip made of hummus. As Kashi's goal to continually make healthy food items that taste great. Kashi Hummus Crisp lived up to their standards.

The chips given to me by Bzzagent was a treat to be had. I brought them to my parent's home for an afternoon of sharing and relaxing. The chips found themselves passed around quite rapidly as everyone just couldn't get enough. The downfall would be the bag wasn't big enough!

A few weeks later, V and I got to enjoy trying the Tomato, Basil, and Feta Crisps from a sample in our Goodies box. We found these filled with favor and crispy yumminess.

As for healthy, you will find them made with Chickpeas, Tapioca Starch and Kashi's special seven whole grain special as the main ingredients. In a serving of 27 chips, the calories are 120 and fat at 3.5 grams. The only concern is the amount of sodium is the same as an average potato chip at 190 mg. These are also not Gluten Free and do contain soy and milk for those of you have allergies.

I did receive the Kashi Hummus Crisps free from bzzagent to try and review.

Purex Fels-Naptha All Stain Fighter

When Purex gave me the option to review the Purex Fels-naptha, I wasn't so sure as to how to use such an item. It's a bar, not a spray or small stick.

I found this new concept an adventure that was being started with my favorite white shirt. This shirt  was one of my favorite shirts that you could wear for any occasion and feel comfortable. The hardest part was the grease stain that layed right were my chest is. A grease stain that refused to be moved by any other kind of stain fighter I have tried. Once I had my shirt under the water to scrub just a little on, I found the stain already starting to work it's way out. After a good wash and dry, it was like having a new shirt.

The next magic trick was a t-shirt that had been worn during a Color Run 5k. Not only was the shirt filled with powder paint, but sweat from the long run and sun. Many parts no longer looked like the beautiful colors they were when I was running. I truly believed there was no way to get out of all the stains, but the desire to keep the t-shirt for memories sake was greater. And so i started scrubbing the shirt, and tossed it in the wash.

I found Fels-naptha really did the job. The only major concern was big jobs. The bar was easier to use, but time consuming where spraying is faster. The fact that it really does break down stains makes it the go to though.

Thank you Purex for giving me the opportunity to try this item. http://www.purex.com/

Aveeno and how "volume" isn't a five letter word

Volume isn't something a fine, curly haired person usually goes for in shampoos. This usually leads to five letter words frizz and fluff, but it was a treat to feel my hair after trying the Aveeno Nourish and Dandruff Control Shampoo and Conditioner. I started trying this for Smiley 360's trial campaign in hopes to help with a mild flaking and itching issue. Though, I found my hair had a nice volume and shine about it. This is because Aveeno is made of Pyrithione Zinc to fight the dry scalp with a special Active Naturals Nourishing Oat Complex that leaves the hair conditioned.

There was one small downside of hair snapping off when brushing my finger through after two weeks of use. This was quickly remedied by a reminder of a gem from an old hairdresser. When i was using a more harsh dandruff shampoo to fight dandruff, she told me that dandruff shampoo for fine hair needs to be in portion. When using it to fight dandruff, it shouldn't be longer then two weeks as it weakens the hair. For up keep of flakes, use it once or twice at most a month. This will help with build up that cause flakes and help with a healthy scalp.

With this in mind, I can confidently say this is staying in the bathroom. It helps with the flakes, is a great way to fight build up, and it leaves my hair with shine and .... volume.

My Weekend with Lifeway Kefir

FRIDAY: Healthy Eating

We first found each other in the dairy section of the grocery store. He was right next to the yogurt. And after checking him out (read the label), it was decided that we should try to meet up. He promised me a healthier life in a new tasty way. I had heard this all before from other healthy food, so I told him that he had this weekend to show me that he is the one.

Friday, he showed that breakfast will never be the same. My cereal was so much yummier. The thickness of the kefir makes the cereal denser and richer. With all that flavor and texture, there was no longer a need to eat a lot. Kefir helped cut my calories. I feel he would make oatmeal heavenly.

A dear friend strolled by to meet my friend. She knew all about him and informed me that next time grab the vanilla Greek style that he is sexy over a bowl of strawberries or any bowl of fruits for that matter. I will have to try that soon, since it is berry season.

Kefir, also, showed that he can easily replace his brother yogurt in my favorite workout mango, peach, banana shake. And though he knew I was starting to warm up, he showed that he was a great substitute for any yogurt blended smoothly in his either refrigerated or frozen form.

He left Friday leaving me know that my mornings will never be the same. Well, except for coffee. He really didn't

mix well with coffee, which is fine since he is supposed to be more part of the main dish then my creamer.

SATURDAY: Pampering yourself

Kefir came over ready to show how much he loves to pamper me. With a basket full of fruits, he informed me that we are going to have a little fun seeing if we can take the idea of replacing yogurt in a face mask and hair mask. It really was easy and stopping to spoil myself was nice.

Face Mask

  • Banana
  • 1 and ½ Tbls spoon honey
  • ¼ cup Lifeway Kefir

1.      Place all ingredients in a bowl and with a fork mash and blend together. Do this tell they are a smooth blend and no lumps.
2.      Before placing on the skin, make sure to wash your face so the benefits of the mask can soak into clean skin. Pull hair up so it is out of the way.  Then scope out of the bowl and spread all over the face being careful around the eyes.
3.      Let it sit for 10 minutes and rinse off with your face wash and warm water tell completely gone.

Hair Mask
  • Half a Mango
  • Banana
  • ¼ cup of Lifeway Kefir
  • Tbls Coconut Oil (or any healthy oil)

Cut mango into chunks smaller than an inch, and place in a food processor. Add the banana in inch chunks and the kefir. Process tell the mix is smooth. Then place the oil and blend again.

When done, scope out and place in hair tell the head is fully saturated and pin back with a clip. Let this sit for 15 minutes. Then wash out completely. This might take a couple washings as the food did take a bit to get out.

SUNDAY: Kefir Sunday

He had already won me over, but he said we needed to do something to celebrate. When I opened the door, he was holding some chocolate syrup, gum drops, and a frozen Lifeway Kefir in strawberry. He smiles his big grin and said, “Let’s have a Sunday on Sunday.”

A Lifeway Kefir Sunday is the frozen desert all the same benefits for the liquid kefir and any other type of toppings that you like. With all the sugar, this will probably reverse the health value. Kefir showed me that his frozen version was good enough to serve in any style that ice cream could be. He became my sweet treat from there on.

He left that night knowing we will see each other again. I must say Kefir is such a versatile asset that he will have to make more visits then just on the weekends. With his 11 different probiotics and great flavor, there will always be space in my refrigerator and freezer for him.

Lifeway Kefir was given to me by Influenster to try, review and inform you about it. I did not get paid for this review.

Adding Fiber to Your Diet: Metamucil

Why does someone take fiber? We all know the best form for fiber is fresh vegetables, fruit and whole grains. We, sadly, don't usually get enough fiber in our basic diets which cause havoc on our bodies. So where we are missing out, we can replace with Metamucil. When starting my sampling, I knew there were benefits to extra fiber. It is good for the heart, helps with IBS, and helps with weight loss. After poking around WebMD.com for more information, I found out that no study have shown that fiber supplements help with the weight loss so I was heart broken.

Ok so one loss, but it does help with other things to make the body healthy. That same source informed me that fiber is great for controlling diabetes, lower cholesterol, improves the immune system and IBS. I found Metamucil to be easy to drink and swallow, unlike the pills and chalky chewable. The orange flavor drink reminds me some of EmerganC. The instructions won't steer you wrong in that your body will take some adjusting the first couple days, but then things will settle down and get better. Also remember to drink a lot more water throughout the day, and take medications at a different times. It is also advised to visit your doctor before starting, especially if you're taking medication, to make sure there won't be any complications or side effects.

I find Metamucil to be an enjoyable way to take fiber, and would advise others to give it a try. This was given to me to try and review through Vocalpoint.

Building a Tardis.... Cake

When wanting to build this device that goes through wibbly wobbly timey wimey  you have to carefully plan out what you will be doing. In this first step, you will be required to draw out... a template. Measure out the size of the cake, then divide in almost eight parts. Remember the sign on top when doing this measuring. measure the lines and details, and don't forget the windows. The Doctor does need to look out at times.

Once this is accomplished, we will need to spackle on a nice base of frosting. Roll out the fondant tell it is the correct thickness and size to cover the whole cake. An easy way to do this is like a pie crust and lightly roller over the rolling pin. Though try to center as much as possible the first time, the fondant should be thick enough to fix any mistakes in the transfer. Lay it smoothly, pinch at the corners of the cake, and trim any excess for fondant. Then start measuring and tracing the planned stencil on the cake. At this point, expect there might have to be changes though sticking as close to the plan will help in the long run. Remember all details will be noticed after the paint is applied, so make sure to press in all the details.

Once the lines are all pressed in the cake, it is time to give this girl a fresh coat of paint. This blue was found as a frosting spray paint in the Wilton's section of Walmart. Give this a good coat, and then a second coat for touch ups.

With a special white sheet of frosting paper, trace and cut out the two windows, the booth sign, and the door sign. Before applying it to the cake, draw in the other details. I used a sharpie and just didn't let anyone eat the white stuff, but there might be a food friendlier way of doing this. Apply frosting in the back and place them where needed on the cake. The frosting will make it stick on the cake.

Ok, so there is one part that if missing will mean the Tardis has no way of lighting it's way through the galaxy. That would be.... the light. Dah! This will require the extra fondant that was scrapped from the edges, yellow and blue food dye, thin paintbrush and a skewer. First, take a little of the fondant, dab some yellow food dye on it, and start kneading. Use the amount needed to make the light the right size for your tardis. Too small and you will get lost, and too big and you'll be going wibbly wobbly. Once the color is correct, create a round cylinder shape. Put this to the side. Then you will get more fondant, put blue dye into it, and knead. This will then be divided into two, flattened and placed on top of and bottom of the yellow cylinder. now drop some blue food dye on a dish, take the small paintbrush, and paint on the lines on the yellow cylinder. Place this now onto the skewer that should be cut down to size, and place on the top of the cake. The right size will hold the light together while enough to place on the cake and hold it in place.

There it is. Ready for helping take your party to where it might never be on time, never were expected, but ALWAYS were needed and that is the place there is going to be fun!

I hope you guys liked this. If so, let me know and I'll do more baking/ cooking adventure reviews. Much love to you guys.

"Glowing" Review of L'oreal's Age Perfect Facial Oil

I got the joy to try L'Oreal® Age Perfect® Glow Renewal Facial Oil before it had come out through Expotv. It was a joy to get to try something like this, because of the oil concept on combination skin. It let me explore a new venue of caring for my now aging skin to help have more glow. (Bad pun. lol) With this trial, I got to explore using it for a couple weeks to really get an idea of how to use it and what worked for me.

First lets look at the part that it is... an oil. Say what? Oil directly on my combination skin? This oil isn't the shea butter or olive oil style, though. It is based with essential oils, which are oils distracted from plants. L'oreal Age Perfect is a lovely blend 8 different essential oils from herbs and flowers that vibrate and stimulate the skin cells. Do make sure you don't have any allergies to any of these plants, and then enjoy skin care like the beauty queen Cleopatra.

It really is easy to use. After washing your face and before lotion, take three to five drops and spread it all over. I found, when I warmed up the oil on my finger tips, it spread easily and further. Start at your neck and gently bring the oils up. This video gives a little more information and shows how I apply it.

 I hope you enjoy!

De-Mystifying the Sodastream

When I first heard of Sodastream, it just seemed silly for my family to want an item to make soda. First, taste would never be the same. And second, that would just be one more item in my kitchen that I don't have space for. That and mostly, I have no idea how to use one of the foreign items. So when my daughter was looking at the Houseparty's house parties, she was determined to have mom at least try. She had used it once while camping and loved it. So, yes, I applied and was informed a couple weeks later that I will be getting a box full of stuff and one of those things will be a Sodastream.

I wanted to make sure I know the ins and outs before display at the party, and found the item was actually very smooth to use. In four easy steps, you have a fresh bottle of fizz. Since visual display is usually easier to explain hte step my step, I did a short video for you to enjoy. http://youtu.be/SQyHQbmiUz4

This review was all done on my own with no endorsement or benefit from a third party.

Redbox still has a ways to go....

In this world of stream lining, there is already a big name taking up the market. That would be Netflix. So it is easy to see that Redbox is trying to label itself as different from them. They make it easy to see more of the movies they have available by showing those first in what they have available; where Netflix leans towards showing the TV series with a mix of movies. They offer free movies for those days you need something newer instead of having to wait for the mail person gets it to you. I do see this, but it just isn't enough.

There are things that need to be looked at and realized why these short comings will affect them in the long run.

1.      Limited use of being able to use service on the television. With the options of only one game console, no Roku, or any other smart TV devices. The user has to have the computer directly to the computer to be able to streamline. This left me with only being able to use the phone and computer usage. Easy availability makes people able to use it, enjoy it, and let others know to join it.
2.      Download was glitchy and slow. This was both in using the computer and the smartphone.
3.      Confusion of making sure you don't get charged for the DVDs at the kiosks, because of not using the device correctly.
4.      There is a need for more variety available both at the box and in streamlining, since many of the ones that we can streamline for Redbox are already available at Netflix. And if I want to rent a DVD for the day from a last minute decision without waiting for the mail person, I could just stream rent from Amazon. It should also be noted that we don't need to be using the streamlining service to just rent from the kiosk.

Again, I see where they are trying to make their own mark in the streamlining world. But at this time, they will have to pull out more to really catch people’s eyes. They need to make it available to everyone, and make more movies available that reach everyone and every age. I hope this is something they can looking more forward, and come back in a stronger stance.

Razor Slimey

I hate giving bad reviews, but Gillette and it's Venus Olay Blades left me no choice. There is just no way of getting past the amount of slime that is coated on the leg. Not oh too much of a good thing. It was the stringy slime, and it got everywhere.

In hopes to find some redeeming point, I focused on a different aspect. 5 blades should be easy to pile on the good points. There were two setbacks to enjoying the smooth super close shave five blades should get. The pads of lotion were too large to let the blades get to my skin, and the slime of the lotion made it hard to the blades to latch on the hair to cut.

By the end of my lovely relaxing bath, I was frustrated. Venus has had some great items, so I believe they are able to take this great idea and make it better. For my serenity, I will wait till then.

Dove clinical protection

Being a girl who uses just the basic deodorant with little frills getting to try Dove Clinical Protection Deodorant courtesy of Smiley360 was going to be a change. They also asked my 14 year old daughter to give it a try, too. If anyone would be the person to impress, it would be her as she is never happy with anything.

After trying this for a couple of days, our conclusion was that we both found it to glide on, give full coverage and last all day with keeping smell at bay. I found the embarrassing itchy armpits were gone after months of trying to figure out why. With there not being any aluminum chloride or alcohols, my skin was no longer drying out. This seemed to be one of those moments where I said, "Dah." under my breath from having that oversight. One thing neither of us could get past was the stickiness about afternoon when it had gotten hotter. This could be from how the application is a cream instead of a solid, and could be from us just being accustomed to that.

The POREfessional just for pores?

I had already bought and used this item few months back, but didn't like something about it and handed it off to my daughter. When Total Beauty asked me to do a review on Benefit's POREfessional, I decided to give this a fair shake and remember the detailed reasons I went on to try to find another
"miracle" primer. Before January, I was still living in the old ages of make-up and thought it was time to update my look. I was turning 40, so my pride wanted to keep me looking young. When I informed the counter lady I wanted to know more about this foreign item called primer, I swear she was jumping up and down inside herself. She ran right over to the POREfessional display, showed me how it worked, and advised that I give a whirl.

Now that I have refreshed my opinion with this lovely item, I remember why it was handed to my 14 year old. When applying this item, I actually had to use more than what I was advised to get all over my dry skin which made it hard to spread. Even though it does apply like satin, in time it felt like a layer of cake on my face. And then, come mid-day the glare from the shine could have blinded someone. And as for lines, it was limited. It was only ok for fine lines, and it did nothing for real ones.

In all honesty, this primer is great for those who really want to minimize the look of large pores. I wouldn't advise this for those with oily skin, and would advise them look elsewhere if they need it to minimize lines. My daughter loves it, but she is also very young with great skin.

Dr. Scholl's Massaging Gel Insoles- BzzAgent Review

Did you ever wonder what it would be like to walk on water? Ok, maybe more like jelly? It was a delight to feel the Dr.Scholl's Massaging Gel Insoles courtesy of Bzzagent. They were so comfortable with the support for arches and soft jelly on the front and heels. These helped relieve a lot of physical stress your feet deal with every day. I would say these really are a must have for those who are on their feet all day, either because of walking or standing. Walking around town has just become a treat now, and I just never want to take my shoes off.

Palmolive soft touch isn't just your grandmother's soap

Palmolive goes back to when my grandmother had 13 kids: 4 in diapers and dishes as high as you can see. Having a home like that required a soap that could take care of anything, and Palmolive was it. When I grew up, Grandma's kitchen was always filled with everyone sitting around the table socializing, others helping with dinner, and some doing dishes. Since there were 13 kids, they all grew up, got married and had kids. There was never a dull moment in our kitchen. One thing I will always remember is the smell of the dish soap while the dishes were getting washed. Fresh and clean with a soft floral would linger. Through Influenster's trial campaign of Palmolive soft touch, I got to live through it all over again.

Palmolive Soft Touch gave us two great bottles of fun, and one was swiftly given to my dear friend who is a hair dresser. If anyone washes her hands a lot and needs something that helps, it would be her. She was very thankful for the chance to enjoy Palmolive's gentle use on the hands.

The question was, does Palmolive Soft Touch still work as well as Grandma had faith in it? I would have to say yes on being gentle on the hands, and the smell still smells like I am at Grandma's. I tried both the Aloe and Vitamin E types of soap to get a good idea how they worked.

It seemed they both had a different way of working. I found that the Aloe was great on being gentle on the hands, and cut through grease. It, also, cut through coffee stains on my coffee pot that even my everyday dish soap couldn't do.

Still hoping to find that dish soap that actually lotion my dry skin, I went to grab the Vitamin E and the store and give it a try. I found the replacement for my hand soap, and it washes dishes. Score! Right? Well yea, since very few of my dishes require to be hand washed. The only concern is that it doesn't cut through grease as easily as the Aloe.

My over thought is that they both work at being gentle on the hands that sometimes see too much water. If you wash your dishes by hand a lot though and want it to be quick and fast, go for the Aloe. If you want that extra relief because you have dry skin, grab the Vitamin E. I believe the Cocoa Butter is about the same as Vitamin E, but I didn't try it so not able to completely say if it is true. Yes, this is my grandmother's soap that I can now see why she loved it. Though the scenery in life changes, it is nice to find things that change to continually bring great quality while still sticking to the things that make them great.

I received these products complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes.

"Bitch" Please!

This wine with a great name was given as a gift, and was loved that friends would give me a chance to try something new. It is a Barossa Grenache 2009 with a name that is sure to be a conversation starter.

It does have a very nice round taste were you automatically taste a dark berry. It is very light and slightly dry to drink even with the deep round flavoring. This is something you would want to enjoy with something that is a little bit deep in taste like dark chocolate, beef, or a sharp cheddar.

Over all though, I find this leaving me wanting for something more. It should be noted that I have heard that their bubbly is fun and tasty, and maybe something I will try if I find it on one of my perusing the grocery store. Also, I wanted to ask you, my readers, what you would like me to try. Thank you for reading and look forward to hearing your take on things.

Colgate Optic White

My daughter use to make fun of this commercial. Who the hack brushes their teeth after they put on make-up, especially with red lipstick and sunglasses on? Who would have known we would be trying it by courtesy of Influenster in the Sugar and Spice Voxbox. I would like it to be put on record that there is no way someone could possibly still have lipstick after using this. Though, this does mean that it foams up and gets places you might have missed. The toothbrush was great as the bristles got to all the cracks.

The funniest part was two weeks ago... I was brushing my teeth, and my daughter walked in. She started laughing since as I was wearing my bright red lipstick.

Ode to Chocovine Wine

Who decided to say this was a wine?
They must have had one too many cheap glasses reds.
"Liquid in the right bottle is wine" they said.
So you were bottle and sold as is.

Oh poor bottle of liquid.
You are so yummy.
So yummy over berries.
So yummy in my coffee.
But in my wine glass, you don't belong.

I am so sad that you were given the wrong name.
Chocolate Gold must have been taken.
Or Chocolate Spirits would be good too.
But saying you were wine will be your down fall instead.

Sugar and Spice VoxBox

Sugar and Spice and everything nice is what my VoxBox from Influenster was made of. This was my first box and your first review of what was given. Not only reviews, but why and how you might want it. How exciting is that!?!

The sweet and spicy things in the box was a little package of belVita Breakfast Biscuit in Golden Oat, a box of Nectresse Sweetener, a spray bottle of Vaseline’s Spray and Go, and a box of Dickinson’s Witch Hazel towelettes. With that, there was also a Colgate Optic White collection of mouthwash, toothpaste, and toothbrush.

Any box that has the word “sweet” there had to be something yummy. belVita Breakfast Biscuit were swiped from the box by my teenage daughter. The package comes with four biscuits, and filling. They aren’t gluten-free which made them off limit for me. They were a win, and shortly asked for more at the next grocery trip where we grabbed a box of chocolate flavor. Both flavors were like eating cookies. Are great with milk, coffee, or tea. I have even heard someone put peanut butter on them.

The one sweet for my mouth thing that didn't work was the Nectresse Sweetener. In my limited taste buds of only liking things natural, I found it tasted like every other sweetener. Hoping that it was just me, I handed off a few to my mom and asked for them to try. Since they have used sweeteners before, their opinions would be less bias. The end result... no go.

With Vaseline’s Spray and Go, life just got sweeter. The Spray and Go lotion seriously is just that. Spray, rub, and go. No waiting for it to dry. I also found it a great medium for spreading other lotions. My favorite perfume lotion was able to be used all over. There is one downfall, especially for us women whose dry skin requires more care. It is still a thin coat type of lotion, and you will still need thicker lotion for areas that needs extra care.

Just in time for summer, Dickinson’s Witch Hazel Towelettes have become my favorite item in my purse. It is a great asset in many aspect. Makes packing for a weekend to the ocean as easy as pie. They are perfect for those long summer days where you adventure all day outside. Witch hazel is great for cooling down the skin, sunburns, rashes and bug bites. Put a few in your ice chest and you have the most refreshing natural soother. These little packages will be near me this summer.

In this box full things to make life sweet, Colgate Optic White is there to make sure my teeth don’t get damaged from all that sweetness. Though I found myself a little disappointed in that it really didn’t get my teeth any more whiter than it already was, and the taste was awful. The way it foams, even the mouthwash foams, it really does get in places that even a toothbrush can’t get to.

So that would be the review of my Sugar and Spice VoxBox from Influenster. Sweet in so many ways. Let me know of what you would like to see more of. Different kinds of information. As i am still getting my feet wet, I will find things that work and things that don’t. One thing I would like is to bring my teenage daughter more. When there isn’t something coming from a VoxBox and Influenster, i hope to find other things to review so let me know what you would like to hear about.
